A total of 58 research projects of Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) employees were presented during the annual Agency In-House Research Review (AIHRR) held last August 3-5.

Organized by the Research Directorate (RD), the three-day event assessed the outputs of the research projects which were implemented in the past year, with the theme, “Pressing onwards for Excellence through Intensified Research and Innovation in the New Normal.”

This year, around 90 faculty and full-time researchers presented their papers. All of which were funded by the MMSU’s general appropriations for research services.

Categorized according to the university’s seven research centers, 24 projects were under the Humanities, Social Science, Communication, and Education Research Center (HuSSComERC); 17 from the Natural Resources Conservation and Management Center (NRCMC); eight from the Tuklas Lunas Development Center (TLDC); four from Garlic Research Center (GRC); three from the National Bioenergy Research and Innovation Center (NBERIC); and one each from the Regional Research and Training Center for Climate Change Studies (RRTCCC) and the Center for Innovative Materials in Emerging Applications (CIMEA).

Members of the AIHRR’s panel of evaluators for each cluster were Dr. Marlowe Aquino, Dr. Sheila Baquiran, Dr. Aris Reynold Cajigal, Dr. Rommel Dascil, Dr. Jan Rich Guira, Dr. Byron Hallar, Dr. Ronald Candy Lasaten, Prof. Christine Joy Lim, Dr. Cesario Pacis, Dr. Geraldeen Pascual, Prof. Ryan Dean Sucgang, and Dr. Errol John Valdez (HuSSComERC); Dr. Epifania Agustin, Prof. Melvin Bagot, Ms. Frances Charlene Batara, Dr. Charles Batin, Ms. Joana Crosby, Dr. Alice Pagaling, Prof. Efren Renon, Jr., Dr. Frederick Rodrigo, and Prof. Art Del Rosario, Jr. (NRCMC and GRC); Dr. Aileen Camangeg and Dr. Pagaling (TLDC); Engr. Samuel Franco and Dr. Robert Bjorn Santos (NBERIC); Dr. Batin and Dr. Bobby Eclarin (RRTCCC); Dr. Reynold Caoili and Dr. Santos (CIMEA).

Meanwhile, 14 special research projects, which were also funded through Grants-in-Aid (GIA) from other funding institutions, will be presented and evaluated on August 12.

The RD will announce the best presenters and research papers for external presentation later on after consolidating the evaluation results.

The annual in-house review is the university’s monitoring tool in which all research projects of the University are being classified as technologies for verification, commercialization, or dissemination.

It also serves as the University’s mechanism to endorse papers for presentation in external conferences. (StratCom)
